Color scanner can be thought of an image capturing devise in the imaging system. It enables us to convert analog images from picture and film into electronic files. Reflective targets (IT8.7/2)

The IT8.7/2 is a reflective scanning target, in most cases these targets are produced in batch. A sample from the production batch will be measured and the colorimetric data will be saved as reference data.

Characteristics of the chart

A set of colour patches that fall within most device-colour gamut’s.
A neutral grey scale comprising 24 patches ranging from Dmin to Dmax of the target.
A series of specific colour patches that have been selected to define the color gamut of the target.

How Reflective targets (IT8.7/2) are measured

There are several color measuring tool on the market can take measurement. Some can make use of an automatic scanning table and color patches are measured automatically. If an automatic scanning table is not available, users have choice to take spot measurement of the target.

Reference Data file

Colorimetric values like RGB, XYZ, and LAB will be collected from the chart. Once the measurement is completed, values can be saved as a reference data file for profile creation. Below is the example of the measured data file (the middle part was truncated).
